6 Cardio Workouts Under 30 minutes

6 Cardio Workouts Under 30 minutes

Sometimes you just have to get in and get it done. It doesn’t need to be fluffy, or pretty, or packaged with bows, it’s just gotta happen.

What am I talking about? Cardio.

If you’ve been with me for any length of time, you probably know by now that traditional cardio isn’t my favorite thing in the world. I’d much rather box, or dance, though occasionally I’ll run for a cause. However, sometimes finding the time to fit in a boxing class or a dance class that fits my schedule can is next to impossible. On those occasions a quick, simple cardio workout that takes 30 minutes or less is in order.

Today, I bring you not one, not two, but six options! You can thank me (or not) later.

19 for 2019 Check-In: August

19 for 2019 Check-In: August

It’s August. Seriously, though. How the heck is it August?

It’s over halfway through the year, and I’ll be honest, I have not done a great job of keeping track of my goals this year. Ugh!

Isn’t that how it works, though? The New Year arrives all shiny, and white (or bright, depending on what part of the world you’re in) and you have all these fabulous intentions. Then February arrives, and the snow has turned into gray mush, and along with it… several of our well-intentioned goals.

Okay, I may be being a bit overdramatic (Me? Never.), but you know the routine.

I’m generally pretty good with goals. I enjoy tracking them, and checking things off lists. This year, however, things got a bit out of hand. My April check-in went pretty well. I’d kept up with most of my Happiness Project, and I was making my way through my 19 for 2019 pretty steadily.

Then May happened. And all the changes that came along with May.

Inspiration to find Time

Inspiration to find Time

School is starting. Where the heck did summer go?

How the heck is it already the middle of August? Seriously. There’s no way it’s later than the beginning of July at the latest. More like mid-June, right?

Where has this year gone?

What is it about being an adult that causes time to slip through our finger-tips? Maybe it’s because we’ve lived longer so our concept of time is different than it was when we were younger. Or maybe it’s because we’ve put “being busy” on a pedestal and we are living in a state of overwork, overwhelm, and over-busy.

What your group exercise instructors wish you knew

What your group exercise instructors wish you knew

It’s your first time. You walk into the room and see that super cool girl setting up the music and checking the microphone.

Or you’re a seasoned pro, but you’re not sure if the instructor knows your name.

No matter what your group exercise experience may be, there are a couple things that group instructors wish you knew. These are some of those things.

Book Report- Beyond the Pill by Dr. Jolene Brighten

Book Report- Beyond the Pill by Dr. Jolene Brighten

Here we are!  As I promised you last week, this is my very first FRICKin Good Life book report. I made it especially for you. I hope you like it :)

Beyond the Pill by Dr. Jolene Brighten

When it comes to books like this in the health and wellness space, my general recommendation is to take everything with a grain of salt. The authors who write books like these are passionate about their topics, and often come across as preaching “one right way” to do things. As a wellness professional myself, I know that there is no one “right way” or “one size fits all.” Whether its nutrient workouts, supplements, or the birth control pill.

Book Reports and My Library

Book Reports and My Library

A couple years ago I found myself mid-December not having read a single book that wasn’t somehow related to the health and wellness industry. Don’t get me wrong, I love to read, and I have a HUGE list of non-fiction books that I can’t wait to read, but I also love fiction. I love intriguing stories, and fluff, and Harry Potter.

So I joined a book club. I spent the year reading book club picks and re-reading all the chronological Valdemar series books by Mercedes Lackey and letting the health and wellness books I wanted to read pile up. And pile they did.

Ugh! So many books, so little time!

Best Road Trip Snacks

Best Road Trip Snacks

I’ve spent a lot of time on the road. Between family road trips and the several years I spent touring across the United States as an actor, I’ve definitely put in some miles. And if there’s one thing I know about hitting the open road, it’s that what you’ve got in your ears and have available to eat can totally make or break the long hauls.

I imagine it must have had something to do with not wanting to hear, “are we there yet” a zillion times, but the way I remember things, my parents always wanted to get where we were going as quickly as possible. What that meant to me as a kid was that we had short bathroom breaks, and ideally when we had to get gas. Because of this, snacks were essential.
