Top 9 Health and Wellness Apps

When I got my first smartphone I promised myself that I would not become anti-social or addicted.

I remember when BlackBerrys (CrackBerrys) first came out. I was not a fan. I didn’t love how everyone I knew that had one was always on their phone. The lack of interaction irritated me, and I was totally anti-smart phone.

I know, right?

Believe it or not, but my family literally got together one Christmas and bought me my first iPhone. They had all jumped on the bandwagon, and I was the only one left behind. Guys, this was Christmas 2012 and I got a 4s. It made sense because my family lived all over the world, lieterally (at the time the five of us were spread between US, Belgium, and Nicaragua) and with the iPhone we could easily message and FaceTime.

4th of July... and a cop out

4th of July... and a cop out

Happy 4th of July!!!

Okay, here’s the deal… in the spirit of Freedom, I’m going to set myself “Free” from writing a detailed blog this week. My client updates have been novels lately and between the actual transitions ouccuring in my physical personal training business, kicking off my online training business, keeping clients informed of what is going on, and the construction at my house… my brain is Spent!

So… If you want a good read, I recommend that you go back and check out this blog I wrote last year about Heathier BBQ and Picnic swaps.

Otherwise, I’ll leave you with some pictures of the renovation process. Fingers crossed, I’ll have a kitchen soon (and not a month too soon!)

Body Image Issues

Body Image Issues

I’m sickened. Seriously. I’m ill about this. It’s been on my mind constantly for the last two months, and now this?

First, while my 1-year wedding anniversary had me reflecting on all the great parts of the wedding and marriage planning process, I couldn’t help but remember how horrible my dress shopping experience was. So I posted about it. I wrote about how I wanted to reach back a year and a half ago and remind myself that you can’t see “health” with a look up and down. Health consists more than the number on the scale or the size of your pants.

Thank You

Thank You

When I actually stop and think about it, I am beyond overwhelmed. My breath hitches, a lump forms in my throat, and my eyes start to do that watering thing (I’m not crying, you’re crying).

You. Are. Amazing.

Thank you. Thank you, thank you for being so amazing and patient as The FRICKin Good Life transitions, changes, and grows. It is always my goal to be as transparent and honest with you through the process, which is why I’ve shared my struggles as well as my excitement about all the changes that are taking place.

I am so glad that you have decided to come along on the journey. I’m humbled at the same time that you are willing to go through the rocky parts with me. Your support and encouragement has given me the reassurance that these changes are good and healthy and I’m reenergized and inspired all over again to continue the work I’ve been doing. I know that as we change our lives to become better, healthier, and happier, it can’t help but rub off on people we interact with.

Just Five Minutes

Just Five Minutes

We’ve all been there. It’s the end of the day, you’re exhausted, and even though your gym bag is giving you dirty looks, you just don’t want to.

Or maybe you’ve committed to an early morning workout.  Your bed is warm, you’re extremely comfortable, and since you only got 7 hours of sleep you should probably go head and turn off that alarm, right?

That, my friend, is the hardest part of the workout. Getting ready and getting there. Whether “there” is the gym, your basement, or just out your front door, getting to the initial starting place is the absolute hardest part.

So here’s the deal. I’m going to give you an out.  Yes, I want you to continue to plan your workouts ahead of time. Schedule them in your calendar just like any other appointment you wouldn’t cancel on, and show up. But on days like these, you only have to give me five minutes. That’s right. Only five.

You're Not Perfect (Neither am I)

You're Not Perfect (Neither am I)

News flash, you’re not perfect.

“Ouch. Really, Erin?”

I don’t tell you this to be mean, I remind you of this fact to set you free. Since you aren’t perfect, you don’t have to be perfect. It’s okay for you to have a bad day, or a bad week. It’s not okay for you to treat other people poorly because of it.

It’s okay for you to not be everything to everyone, but it is important that you take care of yourself so that you can also take care of the others that you elect to allow into your priority circle. That might mean that your make your husband and your kids your priority, but Tammy from the office will have to pick up the monthly birthday cake herself (or get someone else to do it).

You’re not perfect, and you can’t do everything.  This is something I’ve been telling myself on repeat over the last few weeks.

Podcasts to Listen to Now

You probably already know how much I love podcasts. They make me happy. I love how easy it is to learn something new, increase your knowledge in something you already know, or just be entertained while you’re doing, well, anything!

I love sharing them with people. I text episodes to friends, family, and clients on the regular. But I realized it’s been a while since I’ve shared here with you. So get your earbuds ready, here are a few episodes that have really made me think over the last couple months.
